USING A CLASSIC COLOR IN EVERY DECOR
Color trends for home decor come and go. Trends seldom come back again because, well, they were trendy! Overdone and often a tad boring. Designers who have been in the industry as long as we have don’t like trends. We’d much rather see our clients create homes to reflect their personalities, are in sync with the architecture of their home and use classic colors that can be timeless.
One Of These Timeless Colors Is….
HOW DO DESIGNERS USE PINTEREST?
WE HAVE A SECRET.
As of July 2017, more than 175 million people use Pinterest every month. 75 billion Pins are currently found on the platform. These are some amazing numbers. What is even more amazing is, that less than a year ago, our design firm did not even have a Pinterest account. Gasp. Gag. Choke.
Kicking and screaming we are painstakingly creating Little Black Domicile’s Pinterest Account . You may be surprised how we are using it and why.

HOW MANY CHARGING CORDS ARE IN YOUR LIFE?
We are a society that loves our electronics. We are power junkies. Many of us have one or more cell phones, tablets and computers, that at the writing of this post, all have power cords. These cords, needed to keep all of our devices charged, are now our lifelines. Even though we make lofty plans to be less “connected”, for most of us we nearly go into withdrawal when we run out of a charge!
OF COURSE THE FIRST THING WE WANT TO DO IS PAINT!
Designers are just like everyone else. At some point, we buy our first house. Mr. LBD Junior and I just starting to think about what we want to do to our first home before we move in. Like many others, painting is on our list!
We all do it. We zip through Pinterest, Instagram and places like Houzz, and find rooms we love. Entire houses in fact. We save the photos and may even start dissecting and researching to see how to make these visions come to life in our home. Before long we hit a snag. For starters, the architecture in the rooms we love is the exact opposite of ours. Or the first piece of furniture we price is what we hoped to spend on the entire space. Perhaps the paint color on the walls, so recently finished you can still smell paint, came out different from in the photo you used as your inspiration. Sound familiar? Designing a home, your home, does not have to be like this. Designers don’t necessarily have a bag of secrets but we do follow one rule on nearly every project….

THE BENEFIT OF FINDING THE RIGHT INTERIOR DESIGN PARTNER
It’s been said working with two designers is like putting a pair of cats in a bag and letting them work it out. It’s not a pretty thought. While we can see how this might happen, nothing could be further from the truth with our partnership. This week, with hurricane Irma looming, I am even more thankful for how well we work together from two different cities.
