Oh My Goodness…We Own A House!
OF COURSE THE FIRST THING WE WANT TO DO IS PAINT!

Designers are just like everyone else. At some point, we buy our first house. Mr. LBD Junior and I just starting to think about what we want to do to our first home before we move in. Like many others, painting is on our list!
Our new house has many craftsman style details. Great architecture, charming details but a lot of stained wood. We want to keep the history of the house yet make it our home. An updated, modern traditional decor that can blend both of our personalities.
Here’s a few photos taken during a walk thru. You can see many of the features we fell in love with. Wood flooring, the original fireplace and all the different size windows are all so inviting.
THE PAINT CONCEPT
With each design project we do for clients, a paint concept plan is completed in our studio before we present the ideas. So today, for our Friday Favorites, here are the boards with the thought process of how we will consider the color palette for our new abode!
Inspiration Photos
Photos that represent some part of the concept are collected and reviewed. Sometimes these photos are presented with our plans, and other times they are used in house only. Many clients ask us to not overwhelm them with our procedure, while others want to explore options right along with us. This photo shows some Arts & Craft design with updated paint approaches. Some of the stained wood remains mixed in a classic palette to be fresh and ready for the next generation.

The Living Family Room is an area we want to really make our own. With some of our existing furnishings and some cool new ones, it can be artistic and comfortable at the same time.

The photos above are used for the inspiration for the bedrooms and bath. Photos do not always have to be of the same type of room being planned for a color palette to emerge.
One of the rooms I will be spending a lot of time in will be my office. The decor in this room will be one that keeps me inspired and motivated. There are so many choices! I know I will love this space so much I will probably use it as a dressing room as well. Fashion and Decor…always so closely related. Remember this past post “What Came First-The Chicken Or The Egg? Look Here!
No home is complete until the kitchen is just as we like it. Ours may be a little further down the road. We encourage clients to live in a space before making major renovations. Using time to plan carefully and not miss any opportunities is always a plus for any home’s decor. So thus far, all we have for our kitchen is a first inspiration photo. What a fantastic mix of tradition and modern all in one design!
