Time Zones can play havoc with even the most seasoned of travelers!  Even a simple one hour difference can keep us checking the time.  One thing that does seem to be governed by our internal clock is our beloved happy hours.  Regardless if adult beverages are involved or not, the ritual of winding down the day and preparing nightly rituals is something to look forward to.  Especially on a Friday!

The Happy Hour Bar Cart

American movies in the 1940’s, 50’s and 60’s always had a bar cart.  The center of both entertaining and the beginning of an evening at home.  Then for a few decades they seemed to fall out of favor and ended up in resale shops and donation centers.  Cleaning out Grandma’s house conjured up memories of her serving cakes and pies from a cart…or grabbing a toddy with her cigs.  (everyone’s Gram was different)  Well, the carts are back and boy are we using them!   Bar carts are a way to showcase your flair and change things up as the mood strikes you.  Let’s look at some of our…..

The Over 50 Take On Happy Hour

Let’s look at some of the more traditional ways carts and skinny tables can be used to set up social hour.  Take a good look at each photo and you will see personalities abound.  Florals, fruits, and holiday decor.  Plus my fav, the painters ladder nearby. Love how the cart is ready to go when this DIY’er takes a break!

Small carts fit lots of places. Give an old cart a fresh coat of gold and off you go.

The Under 50 Take On Happy Hour

Start with a simple cart.  New or used…they all transform!

One of my favorite finds is the glamorous Terrace Bar Cart from West Elm.  When entertaining, using a bar cart can make you feel like the hostess with the mostest!  (Mom coming to mind!)  A bar cart can be moved anywhere in your home, even outside.  You can push a cart filled with glassware, ice bucket, bar tools and liquor to wherever the party goes!  There is a style and finish for everyone and it’s just waiting for you to add your personal touch.
