A few weeks ago a reader suggested we do a post about how to hang pictures. This morning, with the sun streaming into our home, I took a few extra minutes to look at a few of our art pieces. Have you ever cut your own hair badly or had a DIY interior design project flop?
Raise your hand if you have ever stood in front of your mirror crying after a botch job to your hair “just to get you by till your next appointment”, or worse yet to “save money”! As always, Thanksgiving 2017 was filled with good food, fond memories and lot’s of laughter with friends and families. Across America retailers are in high gear to save us money as we enter the holiday season. Because of the “food and too much fun” coma I’m still in, Black Friday sales hype can make me feel overwhelmed. Cookbooks, and online recipes, do one thing very well. They provide us with photos of food that allow us to eat the food first with our eyes. Food blogs have taken the photography of food to a new level. The love affair with good food grows stronger everyday.
This bowl of clam chowder looks like we could dip that spoon right in and pull out the chunks of potatoes, celery and onion. We can almost smell the pepper on the creamy surface. Close your eyes and see if you can envision what the kitchen looks like that got this meal ready for the family table.
Have you got duplicate items, or “double chins” in your home? Hey, life happens. Especially in our kitchens! Cabinets and drawers become over loaded. It can be hard to find what we are looking for. When we work with clients considering a kitchen renovation, we suggest a purge before the project starts. Why keep things in the kitchen that can be disposed of, or stored somewhere else if not needed but a few times a year? Even if you are not renovating….a quick refresher is for everyone!
