How Designers Motivate Other Designers
Designers Can Look At Before And After Photos All Day Long!
Last Friday we looked at some before and after photos of a home being updated to go to market. We received several emails, and comments on how you like to look at these transformations. Designers are no different. We may indeed be a little obsessed with work by fellow designers. Good design, like the one we are sharing today from 2014, is always inspiring.
Today, for Motivational Monday, we want to show you how Sarah from lifeonvirginastreet.com took us on the journey of how her home office came to be. We don’t know Sarah personally. However, when we save a photo and a link from a blog of four years ago, we know we did it for a reason.
A Designer’s Home Office Evolves
Below is a photo of the room before Sarah worked her magic. This room is very similar to many we see on a daily basis. Smooth drywalled walls, “beige” carpet and a central light fixture. Sarah added a simple wall treatment, some well chosen paint colors, a cool fixture and a personalized decor make this home office the perfect LBD for her.
You’ll read in her post that Sarah says her office is always changing. What if we wanted to have a diffrent vibe in the same type of office? It is so easy to do simply changing up the furnishings.

Equal Opportunity Home Offices
One last thought about home office spaces. A space like this will often start out as his, or her, office. Better plan for visitors…everyone wants to be in a well designed home office!

With a plan, the decor is so flexible. Just like your post today on how to style a LBD for spring. You know we have a soft spot for our LBD’s!
Beautiful transformation of that plain room into a chic office space.
Chic indeed! Nice despription. I love the two white wing chairs peeking in that painted desk shot.
Everything you do is stunning. Fantastic work.
Thank you, although we are very careful to give credit to all the designers/photographers who publish their works for us to see as well. All opinions are all us!
Amazing transformations as always! I’m so jealous of those with vision! I see a blank room and that’s all I see! You see so much more, the potential of it! So talented
We all have our passions. I’m a terrible golfer and the mother of a son in the pga!
Yes, watching before and after is absolutely interesting – and I like it, too, although I’m no designer 🙂 Love as usual what you share here!
