We Spy With Our Designer Eye
This Savor Sunday
See What We Love About This Design
Each Sunday we’ll share a design that caught our eye and we took some time to savor. The calendar says Spring but Mother Nature is not letting go of a cozy fireplace just yet in this beautiful living room shared via Jenkins Interiors. At first glance we see a fairly traditional decor. With a closer look, we see several design styles that all blend together so nicely. Let’s curl up and Savor this Sunday!
We Spy With Our Designer Eye….
- rustic beams in a honey stain give a simple ceiling character
- subtle definition of the fireplace chimney is smooth and creamy
- the barely there mantel lets the curved corner detail of the firebox be the star
- stately black arched doors, with good old fashioned brass knob plates, are an architectural treat
- an oversized, king arthur like chandelier must be amazing dimmed at night
- fireplace screen compliments that darling firebox box again
- notice the to the floor window is painted white…no competing with those doors
- is this perfectly patterned carpet wall to wall-no hardwood?
- a creamy roman shade with pale gray banding is ready to change the scene and probably has a sister to the right of the fireplace
- snow white walls let every other color and texture be noticed
- a pair of comfy chairs with leafy patterned pillows and accompanying reading lamp
- fiddle dee fiddle fig in a big white pot brings nature inside
- is that a tv in-between those sunny yellow vases?
- pale powder blue sofas, times 2 loaded with downy pillows
- a lavender throw is the exact opposite of the neon dish on the woven nesting tables
- painted coffee table holds a milky gold tray and a keeper of it all pup perched on the pile of reverse spine books
- the family in the adjoining kitchen having a unrushed breakfast on a chilly morning
- book club members, in spring sweaters too early, warming up by the fire
- Mom hugging her grown daughter admiring her welcoming home!

I really love the lilac throw—-it’s such an unexpected color for the room, and yet works so perfectly!! And your designer eye can see so much that I never pick up on…
XOXO

Yes the added colors are so personal! This designer knows exactly how to make a neutral background the perfect LBD for her client. So well done! Now I am going to go “shop in my own closet” and pair up a lavender sweater I have with some of these other textures and ideas. Sunday is a Funday!
Hi Laurel, those exposed beams change the whole character of the room – such an unexpected and interesting touch! Lxx
Our ceilings offer so much real estate just begging to be a part of the design!
I look forward to these Sunday posts. It’s nice to have thing spelled out through a designer’s eye.
