One House, Two Interior Designers

Wednesday we shared a bathroom project both Laurel and I had the pleasure to work on…20 years apart.  Today, let’s look at two very talented interior designers who have a similar story.

A Tale Of Two Interior Designers

“How do you perfect someone’s taste when that person has perfect taste?”-Tory Burch

Many of you know who Tory Burch is and admire her fashion sense immensely.   Most of us in the design world know who Bunny Mellon is and are humbled to even be in the same profession as she.

So when these two equally talented designers fell in love with the same property, we can only imagine what amazing interior designs we will enjoy.

At the cusp of the 1960s, the legendary tastemaker, gardener, and cultural philanthropist Rachel “Bunny” Mellon acquired a handsome plot of land that hovers over an azure bay on the Caribbean island of Antigua. Here the architect H. Page Cross created a series of elegant pavilions decorated by Mellon with the celebrated Billy Baldwin.

“I wanted to pay homage to her, but make it our own as well.”-Tory Burch

Hop back up and look at the 1960’s beautiful blue painted floor Bunny did in her home.  Below, we see the much more simple white painted floor we talked about last week.  Nearly impossible to choose a favorite. Perhaps an interior with both is the answer!

    1. Every home has it’s own personality and so nice when they evolve to take care of all of their owners!

    1. I know…amazing in their own right and even more so that both designers incorporated them.
