The Sunday Spy 10.7.18
We Spy With Our Designer Eye
Each Sunday we’ll share a design that caught our eye and we took some time to savor. Designs that are a little different from the norm, like this one shared by Amy Bartlam. At first glance we all hope to be on the list of friends that will linger over this luscious cheese and fruit board one late Saturday afternoon. With a closer look we can see all the well planned details that make this kitchen so effortlessly inviting!
Ooooh…Here’s What I Love About This Interior Design!
- standard size, slide in range looks like so much more in this soft arched niche
- and what makes the niche so attractive…the softest gray and white patterned full tiled wall
- rustic, wood framed door, perhaps to a pantry, is enhanced with just the right amount of etched glass
- creamy white walls, void of any top moldings, meld into the equally as dreamy ceiling
- ceiling pot lights are ready to be the hit as soon as dust arrives
- carefully selected island counter top, with subtle movement in the veined patterns, takes center stage and compliments the dark perimeter counter material
- washed concrete floors perhaps waxed to a timeless, patina finish
- stained, yes wood stained-not white, cased windows are right at home with the warm island base
- don’t miss all the elements of this true “cooking” kitchen-pot filler, vessels filled with utensils, coffee machine, open shelves hold every size bowl needed, tray of oils and much loved spices, hanging knives everready and a toaster (yes on the counter!)
- potted plants and over flowing bowl of fruit are all the accessories needed
- bar stools, the color of burnished honey, slide easily on the smooth floor
- statement lighting so sheer we want to touch it!
- the weekend cook, hair in a bandana, coming in with a basket full of just picked herbs from the container garden right outside the door
- several neighborhood cats, lapping up the community saucer of milk in the shade of this very same container garden
- the latest coffee house’s new artist music auditioning on this Sunday to savor!
