Celebrating The Festival of Lights-Our Favorite Menorahs for Hanukkah

When A Candle Holder Is So Much More

Candlelight has long been a meaningful element of our special meals, occasions and holidays.  Today we share some of our favorite menorahs during the Festival of Lights.

The Menorah

A menorah is a special candle holder for seven or nine candles. Nine-branched menorahs are used during the Jewish holiday of Hanukkah.  Hanukkah is a Jewish holiday that falls in the late fall or winter and lasts for eight days and nights.  The word menorah comes from a Semitic root meaning “to shine.”

Medium Dress 1As a child we lived in an area where it got dark early and thus we were often walking home from school at dusk.  I remember several neighbors having blue and silver “christmas lights” in their windows early in the season.  Then I did not know what a menorah was…only that they looked inviting and unique compared to our red and green decorations.

Now, after years of having the blessed opportunity to work with clients who have shared their holiday traditions, I understand and continue to admire the beauty of these special candle holders.

The Festival Of Lights Is An Artistic Tradition

I remain drawn to these unique candle holders, perhaps even more so, because of the artistic aspect each one brings to an interior’s design during this special holiday.  So personally beautiful.
