Well Placed Color Creates A Fresh Open Decor

Recently a fellow designer asked us how we come up with fresh new ideas after being in the design business so long.  How do we get inspired?  Easy to answer!  My second passion is in the world of fashion.  And Laurel can look at anything to do with food and design an entire house.  Today, on another Wednesday “Wow”! we share a recent project where all of our passions came together.

Wednesday “Wow”!

What We Did To Give A More Open Feeling

  • removed the upper wall cabinet
  • added a 15″ x 48″ deep cutout in the wall where the cabinet had been
  • reglazed the stained cabinets
  • retained the perimeter uba tuba granite
  • rotated the island to accommodate seating and changed the counter to a calcutta marble
  • painted all the walls and trim the same color – SW Creamy
  • wood floors added to the entire unit
  • used our food and fashion inspirations for the color in the design…let’s look!

Forever Food!

Yes, Kristen is right.  I am fascinated at the connection between food presentation and the impact it can have on interior design inspiration.  Look at this meal Mr. LBD and I shared.  The same rich, bright colors all melding together in this kitchen’s art make us forget we couldn’t take the entire wall down!
