Can A Kitchen Make Us Think Of Summer?
We Spy With Our Designer Eye
Each Sunday we share a design that caught our eye and we took some time to savor. A design that makes us stop and enjoy, like this one shared by meganraeinteriors. At first glance our eyes go to the unique tile underbelly of this waterfall island. With a closer look, we soak in all the subtle elements that have this kitchen making us think about summer all year long!
Ooooh…Here’s What I Love About This Interior’s Design!
- woven, basket pendant lighting make us feel like we are on island time everyday!
- go ahead and let the kiddos eat dripping popsicles….the family friendly satin wood flooring can handle it and the pups following them, helping clean up
- a gas range looks trim and perfectly to scale in this kitchen’s layout
- the smooth white waterfall island counter corrals casual seating
- bleached wood accents grace the range hood and open shelves
- a wall of multi paned windows let in loads of daylight and lets Mom keep an eye on the backyard action
- ivory inset cabinet doors and drawers, finished so nicely with just the right sheen of chrome hardware
- creamy ceramics line the shelving, all in easy reach
- see the mixed metal decor with the armed sconces peeking over the window?
- full walls of a basket weave, simple white tile is a refreshing change up from trendy subway tile
- hand carved wood bowls ready for the market finds of fresh fruit and veggis
- now this is a refrigerator for some serious food storage!
- now picture a Dad, in charge of weekend snack time, cutting up apples for his brood of still damp bottomed swimmers before round two of teaching them how to do cannon balls

Now that’s a fabulous idea of tiling the island this way…I’m going to remember that for our new place!!

Looks just like you!
I love the wood flooring – so much nicer in this setting than the more traditional floor tiles, Lxx
And wood is so much more cushion under feet as well. I did not used to think so till I worked on tile in one house. Tough!
This kitchen is fabulous! I love the lights and the tile.
Love a design that inches outside the box!
