Renovating A Home To Sell

The Before Fireplace

First, a quick bit of history about this home and it’s amazing DIY owners.  When the sellers contacted laurelbledsoedesign to ask for some ideas about the fireplace, they had been working non-stop on the walls and floors.  In the before photo above, you can see the rich dark wood floors and snowy white walls.  Just perfect for the architecture of the house and today’s home buyer. The hope was to come up with a design that would not require removing the existing fireplace tile.

LBD’s Suggestions

  • paint the entire fireplace in the same, already great white color used on the walls
  • overlay a cement tile on the existing tile hearth
  • add a black framed, round mirror above the mantel
  • finish up with simple white ceramics full with greenery

Wow!  What An Impact!

    1. You are so right about this! Harder to do in warm climates but with new table top units it’s doable. Fire on the lanai!

      1. Thank you for the memory! We are so glad we got to enjoy the new look for a bit before the house sold. This was a great old house, It was good to us. Many thanks to LBD for the help.
