We Spy With Our Designer Eye
Each Sunday we’ll share a design that caught our eye and we took some time to savor. Designs that are a little different than the norm, like this one shared by onlyndoor.com. At first glance, this unique snack bar at the window draws us in. With a closer look, let’s look at all the well-planned details that really make this such a welcoming home!
Ooooh…Here’s What I Love About This Design!
- satin smooth black cabinets with a transitional door style
- marbleized quartz countertops with a full wall splash…instead of expected subway tile
- a natural, irregular edge wood top creating a wonderful snack spot in front of the windows
- this may be a galley kitchen with the absence of an island….unknown for certain but refreshing
- a perfect shade of white on the kitchen walls, ceiling and trim work
- warm wood floors meet an extended base with a nice cap detail
- simple casement header on the opening to the dining room
- a dining room getting used everyday!
- modern, larger than pendants lighting artistically placed over the bar area…envision how these must set the scene at night
- larger burnished pulls on the lower cabinets are easy to use
- what a wonderful, agean color above white slat lower walls in the dining room
- elevated upper wall cabinets allow for this cool metal shelf underneath
- copper kettle, cookbooks and a plant on the slender shelf
- nicely scaled counter stools with a view
- ah…the small, worn brass, back plate and ringed cabinet pull on the upper doors
- the introduction of yet another aged metal in the dome fixture over the dining table
- woven, recessed window shades provide just the right amount of privacy when needed, dappled sunlight or unobstructed views
- a round dining table living happily with contemporary sled base chairs
- the dining room area rug feels soft on morning feet
- counters and dining room table accessorized with items ready to use, and a bit of the backyard as a centerpiece
- Mom, so busy all week, just finishing the clean up from making the cupcakes on the cake stand
- her family lingering about asking when those goodies will be ready
- sister, and her kids, on the way over to have lunch and enjoy a day catching up
- hubs heading out the back door, stolen cupcake in hand, to get materials for the next DIY project
- happy weekend!

Since I have not eaten yet…I agree. Cupcakes for breakfast on the weekend. Heaven!
I love black and white together!!!
You know we have a thing for black and white too!
Aren’t those lights amazing? And coupled with the natural light from the windows, this room must be so light and airy, Lxx
Such a great use of that space!
I love the colors and how it pulls you to the other room. The table and drawer pulls are nice features. 💚
Agree…that color is the dining room is so nice after all the years of gray walls we have seen. Color is all about contrast and the best way to use it.
