The Sunday Spy 6.5.22

Photos by Salva López for WSJ. Magazine

This Sunday we enjoy the kitchen of Luis Laplace and his partner Christophe Comoy, on the island of Menorca, Spain.   See the WSJ feature here. Oh, we can imagine coming into this kitchen in bare feet with our pups trailing us just waiting for a little something to fall on the floor!

WHAT WE LOVE ABOUT THIS KITCHEN DESIGN

Photos by Salva López for WSJ. Magazine
  • vaulted ceilings….almost no one has an opportunity to do this in most everyday architecture!
  • ever forgiving terrazzo flooring…we might just skip the sweeping “again”!
  • what no quartz counter tops?…yes to this amazing characteristic tile
  • be still my heart for this stone sink!  had to look twice for the faucet!
  • love all the open shelving housing the everyday usable pottery, allows the solid cabinetry to become a design feature
  • impactful fabric skirts cover what…somethings less desirable..we can’t imagine what these things might be!
  • are those large catch fish hooks giving these serving pieces a lofty home?
  • natural woven light fixtures and fan blades in a warm honey stain…this is what so many cookie-cutter white kitchens today are missing!
  • green glass..what can we say..just the perfect accent to this creamy color palette
  • what do you think…there are probably a couple of charming farm dogs that got booted out of their lazy lounge space during this photo shoot!

Thanks for spending a little of your Sunday with us!
